ALMI at the IRE
The first day at the IRE was a very succesfull day for ALMI. Many visitors visited our stand which is completely decorated with stone cutters (see photo).

ALMI block splitters pass emissions test
Dutch independent research institute TNO has found that quartz dust emissions from an ALMI battery driven block splitter are within safe limits, even when the equipment is in constant use over an eight hour duty cycle.
Netherlands supplier ALMI is exhibiting its AL43SH21 block splitter for cutting natural stone such as cobblestones, thick slabs and clinkers, at the International Rental Exhibition (IRE) in Amsterdam.
An ALMI spokesman said, "The outcome is very positive. You can work a full day with our machines without any problems and without any further safety measures".
TNO has awarded the cutter its highest quality logo after demonstrating that ALMI's manual and hydraulic block splitters meet the public limits set for respirable quartz (0.075 mg/m3) for a maximum duty cycle at 100% operational use.
Respirable quartz dust (silica dust) is a carcinogenic emission from the stone cutting process that can lead to a lung disease known as silicosis. Health and safety organisation IOSH has imposed strict policies on tools that are processing quartz materials to protect those who come into daily contact with this substance.
In addition to low quartz dust emissions, ALMI also highlighted the fact that its block splitters produce less noise and are much faster than using saws, requiring no water and no physical effort from the operator.

On June 7, 8 and 9 the second edition of the International Rental Exhibition (IRE) takes place in the Amsterdam RAI. The IRE is known as the most important meeting for the international rental companies, but also many suppliers of rental equipment will be at this event.
ALMI, as a supplier of stonecutters to several international rental companies, cannot be left out at the IRE. For you as a rental company ALMI will be present with 20 types of stonecutters. These machines that are being used in the (road)construction industry, are a must-have in the assortment of every rental company.

WTC Twente Export Award nominatie
De genomineerden voor de World Trade Center Twente Export Award 2010 zijn Almi Machinefabriek, Techmar en Tyro Remotes. Deze prijs wordt ieder jaar uitgereikt aan een bedrijf of organisatie die zich heeft onderscheiden op het gebied van internationalisering. De uitreiking zal plaatsvinden op 16 november tijdens de Business Meeting Twente in Hengelo.
Genomineerden
• Almi Machinefabriek uit Vriezenveen maakt eigen producten waaronder steenknippers en pijpuitslijpers. Ze produceren eveneens voor derden. 
• Het bedrijf Techmar is gevestigd in Haaksbergen en ontwerpt systemen om op een veilige en eenvoudige manier tuinen te verlichten. Dit gebeurt middels eigen producten onder de merknamen Garden Lights, Ludeco en Tuli.
• Tyro Remotes uit Almelo is producent van professionele industriële radiografische afstandsbedieningen voor de automotive-, de agrarische-, de maritieme sector en de industrie.
De jury heeft bij de selectie van de genomineerden onder andere gekeken naar de aangeboden producten of diensten, exportaanpak, innovatie, ondernemerschap, strategie en internationale oriëntatie. De juryvoorzitter is Richard Wermelink, eigenaar van InnoBrands en expert op het gebied van branding en positionering. De WTC Twente Export Award is een initiatief van de WTC Twente Business Club. De edities van 2009, 2008 en 2007 werden respectievelijk gewonnen door Safretti uit Haaksbergen, Hess AAC uit Enschede en Heuver uit Hardenberg.
Uitreiking
De uitreiking vindt op dinsdag 16 november a.s. plaats tijdens de Business Meeting Twente in Hengelo en begint om 18.00 uur met een ontvangst op het internationale WTC Twente plein in het Expo Center.
Het Gouden Ervaringscertificaat 2009 naar ALMI Machinefabriek
Donderdag 10 december heeft staatssecretaris van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap Marja van Bijsterveldt 10.000 euro uitgereikt aan ALMI Machinefabriek uit Vriezenveen. ALMI Machinefabriek is de winnaar van Het Gouden Ervaringscertificaat 2009. Een prijs die is bestemd voor een organisatie die op succesvolle wijze gebruik maakt van Ervaringscertificaten. Meer info.

You can save a lot of time with regard to your administrative processing by importing packing slips and invoices into your system. You will no longer have to enter the data manually and a few checking rounds can be processed in an automated manner.

Provincial roadshow for the OBN OZP Bestratingen Section
A great deal of effort on the part of ALMI’s Sander Jansen was rewarded by an excellent attendance at ALMI machinefabriek B.V.’s meeting. The Secretariat once again invited all self-employed pavers to the provincial roadshow. ALMI in turn invited many dealers, who were welcome to attend provided that they were accompanied by three self-employed pavers. All in all, the campaign was extremely successful.
The mood was excellent right from the welcome: the invitees were looking forward to the day, which was not so surprising in view of ALMI’s more than 35 years’ history as a manufacturer of block cutters that currently extends to a range of 20 different models. In addition, it should be borne in mind that if there’s anything pavers can – and wish to – discuss at great length then it has to be block cutters!
ALMI offered the pavers an opportunity to test every type of block (bricks, slabs and natural stone) on both hand-operated and hydraulic block cutters. Although there was the occasional hesitation to operate the block cutters, ALMI’s Sander Jansen took over and showed everyone that his showpieces really can deliver what they promise. Prior to the cutting test the invitees had toured the factory, and the manufacture of block cutters no longer held any secrets for them. The imposing robot got extra attention: ALMI had not received the productivity award without reason.
Following the tour of the factory and the block-cutting test the group visited a café / restaurant close by. After a couple of problems with the beamer – has it ever been any different! – Frank Moes, Chairman of the OBN OZP Bestratingen Section, took the floor. Frank explained the background to the formation of the OBN OZP Bestratingen Section, the value offered by the association, and the future. Frank’s presentation was interspersed with examples from practice – which, obviously, were of really great use to the craftsman. At the end of his presentation Frank Moes gave the floor to Piet Almeloo. Piet Almeloo, Secretary of Association Affairs, explained more about the modernised OBN. The OBN now has two sections, for employers and ‘OZPs’, self-employed entrepreneurs, which constitute the foundations of the OBN, the Netherlands association of paving companies.
The day, with a full programme, was rounded off with beers and tapas. Everything – the guided tour, the presentations and the food and drink – was perfectly organised.
OBN’s provincial roadshow was another a successful afternoon/evening for the OBN OZP Bestratingen Section.
